From one class
to a community.
We are a growing community school for bright-eyed boys and girls. We started in 2017 with a single Grade One class. Today we are a campus of two hundred children across Grades 1 to 7, taught by seventeen teachers and assistant teachers who know every learner by name.
Philippi is one of the poorest districts in South Africa. Many of our children arrive hungry, so the school day starts with breakfast. Many go home to houses with no books, so books go home with them.
We describe ourselves as a community-centred family with a love of Maths and English. But that's the beginning of the story, not the end. Every day we make sure our learners have food to eat and spaces to play, relationships to trust, technologies to harness, and a stage to express who they are.
